The album Antigona is a result of cooperation between the singer-songwriter Katarzia and the electronic music producer Pjoni. Its minimalist sound is complemented by daring but socially involved texts bordering rap. The tracks were co-created for an eponymous play of the Slovak National Theatre. Their contemporary approach to electronic music combined with powerful lyrics reflects the timelessness of the play’s leitmotif – the battle of individual vs. society.
The album’s visual design reacts to this prominent ancient tragedy through symbols and citations in a modern way. The battle between the good and the evil, the fight for truth even when faced with death. The visual rendition underlines its uncompromisingness thanks to using such contrasts as 3D render with medieval engraving or high gloss lacquer with uncoated paper sealing sticker.
